Booking in Advance

JAPAN KART tours get full really fast, especially on weekends and holidays — so be sure to book your spot early! You can book easily on their website, Klook, or TripAdvisor.

Driver’s License Requirements

To drive a go-kart and campervan in Japan, you’ll need:

Driving license from your country of origin (no temporary or paper licenses)
A valid international driving permit (IDP) based on the 1949 Geneva Convention
or
A SOFA license, Japanese license, or an official translation of your country’s license (for countries like Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Taiwan, BELGIUM, ESTONIA, or MONACO)
Don’t forget to bring your passport along with your license or permit on the day of the tour!
Please ensure your International Driving Permit includes a “B” stamp, as this is required to drive standard vehicles in Japan, including campervans.

※International driving permits that are issued under the Vienna Convention 1968 are NOT accepted in Japan.

※If you cannot show a hard copy of your IDP on the day of the activity, you will be unable to participate without the possibility of reimbursement.

※Your international driving permit (IDP) should also be in booklet form. Not paper form.

※It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure they have the correct/valid documents for driving in Japan, failure to do so will result in denial of participation without the possibility of a refund. If you are unsure, please contact us directly and we can help to check if you have valid documents.

Additional Information

Please ensure that you arrive 15 minutes before the booking time to allow for check-in, safety briefing, and go-kart demonstration. They can wait a maximum of 10 minutes after the booking time if you are running late, but arriving after this grace period we cannot guarantee you will be able to join the tour.
Alcohol consumption before the tour is prohibited, so please be responsible. We reserve the right to exclude you from the tour if we suspect you may intoxicated without the possibility of reimbursement. (The same rule applies when driving a campervan.)
Please do not wear long skirts, high heel shoes or sandals.
